NEELYVILLE — Hughie D. Gibson, departed this life at the age of 95, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Gibson was born on June 9, 1924 in Neelyville Mo., to the late Hughie Gibson and Lula Mae Couch Gibson.
Mr. Gibson was a resident of Butler County but had lived in Cabot, Ark. for a short time. On July 14, 1949, he married Lora Imogene May, she also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Sue Butler (Key West, Fla.), Hughie Ollie Gibson (Doniphan), Terry Gibson (Cabot, Ark.), Carolyn Wunderlich (Hubert Heights, Ohio), Mark Gibson (Atlanta, Ga.), Rick Gibson (Poplar Bluff), Eddie Gibson (Poplar Bluff) and Chris Gibson (Statesville, N.C.); nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Charles Edward Gibson of Indiana.
Besides his wife and parents, Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by one son, Mike Gibson; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, playing horse shoes and raising livestock.
Mr. Gibson served his country honorably and proudly as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. and was a veteran of WWII. He will receive full military honors.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., both will be held at Fowler & Sons Funeral Home. Internment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Doniphan.
