Howard Eugene Dunlap, 85, of Harviell, Mo., passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Dunlap was born Dec. 19, 1932 in Harviell. He worked as a farmer and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, his farming and reading. He was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon of the church.
Howard was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955.
On Sept. 2, 1960, Howard married Thelma Pennington in Harviell, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Patricia Williams and husband Frank of West, Miss., Rebecca Cate and husband Ernie of Puxico, Mo., Rodney Dunlap and wife Debra of Charleston, Mo.; sister, Mary Clem of Kahoka, Mo.; brother, Everett Dunlap and wife Paula of Plymouth, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Nelda Dunlap of Revere, Mo., Mary Dunlap of Indianapolis, Ind., Dorothy Dunlap of Dexter, Mo.; grandchildren/step grandchildren, Jonathan and wife Kasha Williams of Salada, Texas, Christina Morrison of Oklahoma City, Okla., Melody Smith, Ryan Morrison of Superior, Mont., Ezekiel Dunlap, Rachel Dunlap and Elijah Dunlap all of Charleston, Mo., Brian and Dawn Meade of Florissant, Mo., Jorden Cate-Klutts of Huntington, Tenn., Jason Cate, Jesse and Santana Cate of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Tiffany Greer of Mt. View, Mo., Yvonne and Paul Sannes of Temecula, Calif, Alexandraiah and Tyler Bollman of Laveen, Ariz. , Brooke Cummins of Essex, Mo.; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Clarence and Iva Dunlap; two sisters, Marie Burnley and Betty Mae Dunlap; three brothers, Walter, Cecil and Earl Dunlap; as well as two grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 5-8, Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at the Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Harviell, with Elder Frank Williams and Elder Ernie Cate officiating. Burial will be held at the Kinsey Cemetery.
