"To everything there is a season, a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1
Harold Bauschlicher lived a life of diverse seasons. Born on the family farm in the German church community May 29, 1940 the only son of Herman and Helen Bauschlicher, Harold knew that his future was to carry on the traditions of farming. The longest season of his life was spent planting, nurturing, and harvesting the fruits of his labor. Like many in his generation, his love of the soil was cultivated by hard work. The land was his lifestyle and his livelihood. As the seasons changed for Harold, so too did farming. His focus shifted from agriculture to aquaculture. He spent many days and nights feeding, monitoring, and growing catfish. Throughout his farming seasons Harold shared his love of cooking with family and friends, with many meals cooked and served from the "shed out back." This love of food and fellowship ushered in a new season for Harold. He and his wife, Wilma began Harold's BBQ almost two decades ago, serving the city of Corning at the restaurant and catering many community events. This past year Harold's retirement season began. This season was filled with his hobby of hunting, target shooting, and attending gun shows. He loved sitting out back in his man cave, sharing stories of his youth and bragging about his grandchildren. Harold lived the season of his life fully, walking by faith and not by sight.
"The Harvest"
Sewn in the earth by skillful hands
Brought forth by sun and storm
Destined for a harvest day
Fulfilled when ripe grains form.
Golden wheat in sheaves prepared
For winter that will reign
The story of the life of man
Told by the golden grain.
Made from the earth by loving hands
Trough heat and rain prepared
To face the joys and storms of life
And treasured moments shared.
When at last the harvest comes
As the fields receive the dew
A life well lived lives legacy
The Master's plan in view.
