Gracie Lea (Barr) Bailey of Wappapello, Missouri, 94, passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home in Wappapello, Sept. 22, 2024. Gracie was born April 16, 1930 to Loid and Willie Barr as the third of 11 children. Married to William Henry (Bud) Bailey Aug. 9, 1947. Gracie Lea (Barr) Bailey of Wappapello, Missouri, 94, passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home in Wappapello, Sept. 22, 2024.

Gracie was born April 16, 1930 to Loid and Willie Barr as the third of 11 children. Married to William Henry (Bud) Bailey Aug. 9, 1947. Gracie and Bud were the loving parents of six children, 27 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

Gracie was a wonderful wife and mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and unconditional love. She had a great sense of humor. In her younger years she was a beautiful seamstress, sewing for her children as they grew. A perfect wife, homemaker and mother. Being a caregiver was just her nature.

Gracie was preceded in death by her parents; her eternal companion, Bud Bailey; two children, Glenna and William Dale (Buddy); two granddaughters, Gracie Duncan and BeLynda White; six brothers; and three sisters.

Gracie is survived by three daughters, Brenda (Robb) Bledsoe of Poplar Bluff, Gail (Ron) Clark of Wappapello, and Vickey (Eric) Duncan of Richmond, Virginia, and one son, Randy of St. Louis. Also surviving is her brother James (Sheila) Barr of Benton.

Gracie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed square dancing and every family gathering.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Sept.27, 2024 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Poplar Bluff. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Doniphan, Missouri.
