Alice Geraldine nee Eggers Allen, 90, of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 at Moore Funeral Service, 1100 Iron Bridge Rd., Poplar Bluff. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16 in the funeral home. Alice Geraldine (Eggers) Allen, age 90, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Allen was born July 1, 1929, in Flint, Mich., to parents Herman John and Frieda Mae (Smith) Eggers. She married Orville Duane Allen, on August 1, 1949. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.

Mrs. Allen was an elementary teacher in Butler County for her entire career. She taught at Pike Slough School, Hart School, Forest Grove School, Harris Ridge School, Coon Island School, Neelyville Elementary, and Hillview School. She had high expectations for all her students and shared with her students, and her family, a legacy of the love of learning.

Mrs. Allen was confirmed April 2, 1944, and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Allen and her husband have three children, daughter, Linda Diane (Allen) Mitchelle and husband, Randy L. Mitchelle, son, Col. Gregory Owen Allen, (Ret.) and wife, Col. Cheryl Ann (Duckett) Allen, (Ret.) and son, Kevin Lynn Allen, P.E. and wife, Andra Lanelle (Mullenax) Allen. She has three grandsons, Michael Lee Mitchelle and wife, Anne, Eric Allen Mitchelle and wife, Cory and Ryan Alexander Mitchelle and wife, Laura. She has six great-grandchildren, Lily Ann Mitchelle, Charlotte Evelyn Mitchelle, Jack Lee Mitchelle, namesake, Caroline Alice Mitchelle, Kate Elizabeth Mitchelle and Georgia Louise Mitchelle. All of Mrs. Allen’s siblings live in Poplar Bluff. They are Joyce Carolyn (Eggers) Eakin, Herman James Eggers and wife, Geneva and Richard Wayne Eggers and wife, Patricia and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 in the chapel Moore Funeral Service, 1100 Iron Bridge Road, Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Allen’s niece’s husband, Lutheran minister, Rev. Kendall Meyer, will officiate at her funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, at Moore Funeral Service.

Mrs. Allen was a force of nature and fiercely loved and supported her family and friends. Those of us who knew her were blessed.
