Gerald Lynn Rains

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Gerald Lynn Rains, 71, of Piedmont, Mo., died Thursday, March 21 at his home in Piedmont. Lynn was born May 15, 1947 in Poplar Bluff to the late Herschel and Pauline (Scott) Rains. Mr. Rains was an entrepreneur in the timber industry. He loved fishing, hunting, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Missouri Tigers, and playing Pitch and other card games.

Lynn is survived by two sons, Matt Rains and wife, Rachel and Mike Rains; one daughter, Lisa Rains; one brother, Joe Rains and wife Joan; one sister, Sue Rollins and husband, Don; and seven grandchildren, Malcom Lynn Rains, Mary-Catherine Rains, Zachary Miller, Jeremy Miller, Lillian-Grace Mitchell, Sylvia Mitchell, Eliza Jolynn Mitchell, and all other members of the Rains, Scott, King and Kearbey families. He was preceded in death by one brother, Herschel Ray Rains.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the funeral following at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Kearbey cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
