Frances Lorraine (Owens) Conover, 76, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, December 2, 2017. Mrs. Conover was born May 7, 1941 in Poplar Bluff. She was an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and retired as a highly respected and influential elementary school teacher in Poplar Bluff in 2008. Known by many as "Grannie Frannie", she enjoyed spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren, reading, listening to gospel music, and studying the Bible...

Frances Lorraine (Owens) Conover, 76, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Mrs. Conover was born May 7, 1941 in Poplar Bluff. She was an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and retired as a highly respected and influential elementary school teacher in Poplar Bluff in 2008. Known by many as "Grannie Frannie", she enjoyed spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren, reading, listening to gospel music, and studying the Bible.

On February 3, 1961 she married Nathaniel C. Conover, Jr. in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2010.

Survivors include her sons, Michael D. Conover and wife Aimee, Paul B. Conover, and Jeremy D. Conover and wife Nicole, all of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Meghan Shepard, Madyson Little, Ashlee Conover, Victoria Conover, Xavier Conover, Katelyn Conover, and Brayden Conover; and sister, Judy (Owens) Fish and husband, Dale of Zalma, Mo.

Her parents, Earl Owens and Ruth (Miller) Owens, son Stephen Mark Conover, brother Dale Owens and sister Allie Mae (Owens) Marshall preceded her in death.

Mrs. Conover inspired countless students as she loved education and educated in love. She demonstrated her love of God and family daily, and has finally gone home to be with the Lord and Savior that she spoke of so often.

Visitation will be held at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff on Wednesday, December 6th starting at 6 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church (11th Street, Poplar Bluff) on Thursday December 7th at 10 a.m. with Elder Don Seat officiating. The interment will follow at Black Creek Cemetery.

The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (via alz.org), or to Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
