Elwood L. ‘Bud’ Aylors, 86, of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019 at Chateau Girardeau, in Cape Girardeau. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at noon, with Rev. Ron Black officiating.

Elwood L.’Bud’ Aylor, 86, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019 at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

Bud, the son of the late Fred and Sweetie Pace Aylor, was born Dec. 31, 1932, in Poplar Bluff. He was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School, and later served in the Missouri Army National Guard, where he attained rank of Master Sergeant. Bud was an astute business entrepreneur. Whether selling trucks, farm animals or farm equipment, he was known for his honesty and integrity. In his retirement years Bud enjoyed competing in and watching tractor pulls. In 1996, he won the Southern National Points Tractor Pulling Championship in Mississippi. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and a true friend to all who knew him. Bud will be missed.

Bud was married to Mattie Jean Mayberry on Jan. 16, 1955, in Kennett. She preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 1965, as the result of an auto accident. In February, 1972 he married Joyce L. Karnes, in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in September, 2018 after 46 years of marriage.

Survivors include two sons, Steven E. (Carolyn) Aylor of Longview, Texas and James “Jim” H. Aylor of Cape Girardeau; four grandsons, Christopher Aylor, David Aylor, Bryan Aylor and Dillon Aylor; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Landon, Emory and Evelyn Aylor; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

A brother, Eldon “Sonny” Aylor; three sisters, Ila Witte, Maureen Killian and Shirley Lane and a great-granddaughter, Eleanor Aylor also preceded him in death.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at noon, with Rev. Ron Black officiating. Interment will be at the City Cemetery.
