NEELYVILLE, Mo. — Edna Jo Richards, 91, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022, at her home.
Mrs. Richards was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of the Lone Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she had served as secretary and kept attendance records. Edna enjoyed cooking, her church and reading her Bible.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Glenn Merritt of Harviell, Missouri, Carl Monroe Merritt, of Poplar Bluff; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Edna is preceded in death by two husbands, Carl Glenn Merritt Sr., and Oscar Richards; one son, Calvin Merritt; daughter-in-law, Judy Walters Merritt; parents, Everett, and Nancy Stout; two brothers, William Everett Stout Sr., and Edward Joseph Stout; as well as four sisters, Ellen Killian, Marie Payne, Verna Gowen, and Mae Swaney. Visitation will begin at noon Friday and the funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville with Truman Chatman officiating. The burial will take place at the Kinsey Cemetery in Harviell.
