DONIPHAN, Mo. -- Dorothy Verona Reeves, 94, of Doniphan died Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at Westwood Hills Nursing Center in Poplar Bluff.
Ms. Reeves was born in Fairdealing, Mo. to Hubert and Florence (Miller) Humphries on May 11, 1924.
On May 10, 1947 she was married to the love of her life, Buel R. Reeves, he preceded her in death.
She taught at many rural school houses before retiring from Doniphan R1 school district having taught for 39 years. She was a member of Logan Creek Baptist Church.
Ms. Reeves is survived by one sister, Belva Stroud of Springfield; two nieces, Glenda Dillard of Doniphan and Marilyn (Wade) Phillips of Springfield; one nephew, Charles (Mary) Richards of Georgia; four great-nephews, Brad Phillips and Scott Phillips, both of Springfield, Bert (Ruth) Wilson of New Zealand and Charles W. (Suzanne) Richards of Georgia; two great-nieces Beth (Scott) Christensen of California and Cathy Rendek of Colorado.
Ms. Reeves was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister, Nora Richards.
Visitation was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The celebration of life service followed at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Curtis Crowley officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery near Doniphan.
