FISK, Mo. -- Dorothy "Dottie" Pickens, age 61, of Fisk, Mo., died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Mrs. Pickens was born Nov. 5, 1955, in Saint Louis, Mo. She was a homemaker and had worked as a postal clerk at the Post Office in Fisk and enjoyed working with the census bureau, playing cards, rolling dice and traveling...

FISK, Mo. -- Dorothy "Dottie" Pickens, age 61, of Fisk, Mo., died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center, in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mrs. Pickens was born Nov. 5, 1955, in Saint Louis, Mo. She was a homemaker and had worked as a postal clerk at the Post Office in Fisk and enjoyed working with the census bureau, playing cards, rolling dice and traveling.

On Dec. 18, 1973, she married Patrick Pickens. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons: Frankie Nelson of Greeneville, Tenn., and John Pickens of Piedmont, Mo.; two daughters: Angie Pickens of Fisk, Mo., and Lisa Boggs (Gregory) of Greeneville, Tenn.; five sisters: Carol Hunter (Otis) of Wappapello, Mo., Karen Lingenfelter (Randy) of Washington, Ill., Paulette Willeford (Carl) of Houston, Texas, Glenda Walton of Fisk, Mo., and Vickie Heuring (Rick) of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one brother: Steven Rice of Fisk, Mo.; two grandchildren: Joseph Magill and Alyssa Pickens, and a special friend: Angie Powers of Fisk, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Dorothy Phillips; one brother: Robert Long and a daughter-in-law Jennifer Magill.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Thousand Hills Cowboy Church in Fisk.
