Doris Arnold (nee Shumaker), of Salem, Missouri, died on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at the age of 86.

Beloved wife of the late Donald Arnold (married for 33 years); daughter of the late Lester and Naomi Shumaker; loving mother and mother-in-law of Teresa Wheeler and her husband Keith in St. Louis County Missouri, Shelba Luvin and her husband Alan in Louisville Kentucky, and Wayne Arnold and his wife Michelle in Naples Florida; grandmother of Scott Luvin (wife Chelsey), Morgan Arnold, and Parker Arnold; great-grandmother of Gwendolyn Luvin; and cousin and friend to many.

Doris was born in Poplar Bluff on Jan. 7,1934. Doris had a small family and enjoyed the time she spent with them. In 1968, Doris and Donald moved to Salem Missouri and owned and operated the Salem IGA. She was a member of Seidal Club, Collectors Club and was a community volunteer. People always described her as a genuinely “sweet” and loyal person. Doris enjoyed her time alongside her husband traveling, cooking, collecting antiques and spending time with friends. She was a long-time member of Salem United Methodist Church.

A brief viewing and graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery, with the Rev. Rick White officiating.
