Donald Eugene Allen, Sr., 75 of Van Buren, Missouri, left this life Oct. 10, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

He was born Aug. 21, 1946 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Ted and Hazel (Hartwell) Allen and raised in Broseley, Missouri with his nine siblings; Henry, Bill, Bess, Grace, Mathel, Barb, Wilma, Gladys and Jan.

He began his life farming in Broseley and raising his family on the farm. As time went on, he chose to become a Freight Hauler with various companies throughout the years, and worked during the week driving a truck, and farming on the weekends. He also became a member of the Three Rivers Shrine Club and The Masonic Lodge of Poplar Bluff.

He then met his soulmate, Roberta, and they were joined in marriage Aug. 24, 1991. Their life together took them on many adventures, whether sitting on Current River watching sunsets holding hands, traveling across the country, or just sitting on the front porch spending every bit of precious time together.

After 25 years of hauling freight, he retired and went to work with his children as a part-time delivery driver for Croy’s Perfect Press in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

He lived a wonderful life after his final retirement from Croy’s Perfect Press, enjoying the things he loved the most. He loved spending time with family and friends, enjoying a river day, exploring trails on the side by side, getting fired up over muscle/race cars, or relaxing in his recliner watching old westerns with his fur babies Sam and Bailey. Don never met a stranger, and always had a smile on his face or a joke to share; and you always knew when it was “Paul Harvey Time”.

Donald is survived by his wife Roberta and five children; Angie Croy (Gary), Bubby Allen, Dana Robards (Hershel), Liz Stanley (Thomas), and Chris Sadler (Sarah).

His children blessed him with 10 grandchildren: Aaron Croy, Lauren Goodwin, Cody Hayes, Emma Hayes, Nicole Allen, Alexis Grimont, Denise Simon, Kayla Simon, Chloe Sadler and Castin Sadler. He was then blessed with six great-grandchildren: Vivian, Judson, Cameron, Ashtyn, Rylynn and Kinsley.

Don chose to share his gift of life with as many as he could with his Tissue Donation.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021 followed by a Masonic Service starting just before the Memorial Service. Please join us in the celebration of his life Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. (Paul Harvey Time) at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, Missouri. Pastor Jason Jordan and Lisa Reynolds will be officiating.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to: First Assembly of God Food Programs, PO Box 366, Van Buren, Missouri 63965
