Dolores Vernon Terry

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Dolores Ann (Vernon) Terry, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away on March 28, 2019 in Poplar Bluff.

Dolores was born on December 12, 1930, the daughter of Hugh Lawrence Turner and Gertrude (Spurlock) Turner, in Poplar Bluff. She married Frank Terry on November 27, 1986 in Poplar Bluff.

Dolores was a 1976 graduate Suma Cum Laude, of South East Missouri State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Dolores spent 20 years teaching the children of Poplar Bluff and East Carter County schools, retiring in 1996.

Dolores was an avid oil painter, she enjoyed knitting and reading and loved to spend time with her family.

Dolores is survived by her spouse, Frank Terry; one son, James L. Vernon; two step-sons, Jim Terry (Sandra), Rodney Terry; two grandsons, James Michael Vernon (Stacy), Joseph Vernon (Cheryl); two granddaughters, Dr. Kim Vernon (Jose), Sara Williams; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and special friends, James G. Vernon and Theresa Allmon.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, and son, John Michael Vernon.

Visitation will be held on Friday April 5 from 5-6 p.m. at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff.

Celebration of Life will be held on Friday April 5 at 6 p.m. in the Moore Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. David Stewart officiating.
