Diana Lee (Hodge) Scott passed away Aug. 28, 2024, after a long battle with chronic illness.
She was born June 14, 1950, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Charles Hodge (1928-2014) and Anna (McMillin) Dorris. She was the second of five children - all girls, keeping Charles and Anna busy with their dancing, laughter and shenanigans. She is survived by all of her sisters, Elizabeth Westerfield, Sharon Haley, Debra Barks and Jacqulyn Barks. These five have been best friends throughout their life. They have always been there for one another, and you wouldn’t dare cross one, unless you wanted the wrath of the others.
Diana and her former spouse Dewayne Scott (1947-2011) had two children together Dana and Dallas. She was an amazing mother who put her children above all else. She raised them to be strong and independent. She was their biggest fan, cheering them on in life and always supporting them without judgment.
Diana might have been best known for her role as Granny and Aunt DiDi. She adored children and seemed to effortlessly connect with them. She was gentle, funny, patient and she listened.
Her grandchildren, Trenton, Paetra and Jaxon, along with her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews held strong connections with her.
Diana was full of life and enjoyed living it to its fullest. She was a hard worker and spent many years working in multiple factories in Poplar Bluff. She enjoyed the outdoors; she was always on the go, and she never met a stranger. She loved animals and thoroughly spoiled everyone’s pets. I expect Precious and Tinkerbell often ate better than she did. She was an amazing cook and had a love of good food. You would not want to miss her fried squirrel or fish or turn down a bite of her famous banana pudding or fresh apple cake. She loved to dance, she loved to laugh, she could be loud, but she always lit up the room. Diana was raised in the church and had a firm belief in Jesus as her Savior. Her family finds peace knowing that she is no longer suffering, and she is now with her heavenly friends and family.
Memorial visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 4, 2024, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 701 Vine St., Poplar Bluff, Mo. A celebration of life service will begin at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
