Dennis Ray Hefner, 78, of Poplar Bluff passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020 at his residence.
Dennis was born Jan. 20, 1942 to Carl and Blanche Davidson Hefner. He and Sharon Easley were married Feb. 7, 1961 in Edwardsville, Ill. She preceded him in death Aug. 23, 2007. He and Wanda Ford-Bales were married Dec. 2, 2017 in Poplar Bluff, she survives of the home.
Dennis was drafted into the United States Army Feb. 14, 1966 and was honorably discharged Feb. 13, 1968.
Dennis was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 153, Poplar Bluff Eagles 3730, and UAW 2250. Dennis enjoyed boating, pontoons, riding his motorcycle, fishing and tinkering with anything mechanical.
In addition to his wife, Wanda, Dennis is survived by a son, Jamie (Carla) Hefner of Neelyville; two daughters, Renee Stone (Matt Dubach) of Glen Carbon, Ill. and Penny Huston of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren, Joseph (Brandon), Carson, Maryssa, Dalton, Christian, Nathan and Tayler; two great-grandchildren, Stella Grace and Taylor; and a sister, Velma (Gary) VanDover of Poplar Bluff.
In addition to his first wife, Sharon, Dennis is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020 from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. at Cotrell Service with Pastor Donny Emmons officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with full military honors.
