DONIPHAN, Mo. — David Edward Buckner, resident of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life the morning of Nov. 30, 2020 at the age of 62 years, 3 months, and 5 days.

He was born Aug. 25, 1958 to Brother Leslie Buckner and Verna Pauline (Martin) Buckner.

David was a well-known FedEx city driver for over 20 years, delivering freight in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas. David loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and was the life of any of those gatherings. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flea marketing, playing his guitar, and singing gospel music. He was of the non-denominational faith and attended Bible Way Church while growing up.

On July 7, 2001, David married Debbie (Ryan) Hopper. She survives.

Also surviving are his two sons, Chase Buckner (Jodie), Naylor, and Justin Buckner (fiancée Tania), Doniphan; three stepdaughters, Jessica Arnold (Jeffrey), Wappapello, Bridget Robertson (William), Wayland, Michigan, and Gretchen Postawko, Doniphan; his father, Brother Leslie Buckner (Margaret), Shawnee, Kansas; two sisters, Debbie Washington, Poplar Bluff; and Brenda Scott, Azle, Texas; one brother, Paul Buckner (Bennie), High Springs, Florida; nine grandchildren, Wyatt Buckner, Mallory and Andrea Arnold, Finn and Wesley Robertson, Gentry, Miley, Macoy, and Veronica Hampton, and two future grandchildren, Lexi and Mason Day; as well as many nieces and nephews, and his FedEx work family.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Buckner; one sister, Carol Coleen Gitthens; and one brother, Leslie Charles “Sonny” Buckner.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2020. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020. Both will be at Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hunt-White Memorial Gardens.
