David William Albers Jr., 61, of Kansas City, Missouri passed into the arms of our Lord on Sept. 2, 2021.
Dave was born on July 22, 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee to David Sr. and Martha Albers. He grew up in Poplar Bluff, Missouri where he attended school and met his high school sweetheart, Carissa Krauss. After graduating, they both continued their education at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, and received their respective bachelors degrees there). Dave and Carissa were married Aug. 7, 1982, and made their home in the Kansas City area where they raised their sons, David III and Cooper. Dave had a career of over 20 years with the Federal Reserve working as an account analyst.
Dave had a way of perfectly balancing his professional work life with making the most of his free time. Dave enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and often sported a “Harley” shirt. He loved to grill, hunt and was an excellent marksman. He had a great sense of humor and was fun-loving. He was both tender, with his loved ones and pets, and a warrior for their protection and for causes in which he believed. Dave witnessed to his faith in many ways, including the tattoos he chose. He was a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church, helping form and serving on their security team. Above all, the Lord and his family was of upmost importance to Dave, which is reflected in his children.
Dave is preceded in death by his father, David Albers Sr. He is survived by his mother, Martha; wife, Carissa; sons, David Albers III (wife Emily) and Jonathan Cooper Albers; six grandchildren (Dawson, Addison, Avery, Everly, Elijah and Eden); sisters, Grace Blaich (husband John) and Gay Albers (husband Greg Roberts); brother, Tim Albers (wife Susan); and many extended family, friends and rescued cats.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Antioch Bible Baptist Church on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., immediately followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest in the City Cemetery of Poplar Bluff at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 10.
