FISK, Mo. -- Darrell W. Welsh, 79, son of the late Homer Welsh and Jessie Moran, departed this life on Monday, April 24, 2017 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 21, 1938 at Broseley, Mo. After graduating from Broseley High School in 1956, Darrell enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 20 years. After his discharge he began his second career as Chief of Police at John J. Pershing. He worked there for 13 years. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and was a sports fanatic. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals which was his favorite team. On Aug. 16, 1982 he married Brenda Shrum.
She survives. Also surviving are one son: Greg Welsh of Colorado; one daughter: Patra Perkins and husband Gene of Curryville, Mo.; Two step-sons: Joey and Wesley Faries of Puxico; eight grandchildren: Jenna Kauffman and husband Joe of Illinois, Brennen Perkins of Curryville, Mo., Carmon, Chelsi, Kristin and Hannah Faries, all of Puxico, Dillon Faries and wife Makayla of Vista, Calif., Stephanie Welsh of Poplar Bluff; four great-grandchildren: Braden and Caden Welsh, Wren Kauffman and Elijah Cole Brawner.
He was preceded in death by one sister: Virginia Welsh Reposa.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m, Wednesday at White Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ralph Mayes and Rev. James Capps officiating. Burial will be with Military Honors at the Shain Memorial Cemetery at Fisk.
