NEELYVILLE, Mo. — Clara Elaine Simmons of Naylor, Mo., died peacefully on Feb.17, 2019, at the age of 90. Elaine was born to Andrew and Ida Martin Richmond on Oct. 26, 1928 in Michigan. She grew up on a farm south of Naylor with two brothers and four sisters. She married Sylvester (Ves) Simmons on Dec. 4, 1948 at Piggott, Ark. They farmed land southwest of Naylor with Elaine contributing by driving tractors and combines, picking cotton, raising a garden, canning vegetables and many other chores of farm life. They were hard workers. They raised a son, Troy Simmons, who was the light of their life. They attended Naylor Church of Christ. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage, before Ves died in 2004.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, two brothers, Fred Richmond and Louie Richmond, two sisters Juanita Main and Octavia Owens.

Elaine is survived by her son, Troy Simmons, and his special friend, Sarah Dixon, two sisters, Roberta DeCelis of Chandler, Okla. and Lois Godwin of Naylor. And many nieces and nephews and countless friends. She will be missed by all.

Visitation for Mrs. Simmons will be Wednesday, Feb. 20 starting from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Fowler & Sons funeral Home of Neelyville with the funeral on Thursday, Feb. 21 starting at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Donnie Fowler officiating.
