Charles Dewayne Truelove, 70, of Columbia passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024 at Boone Hospital.
Services will be Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at Memorial Funeral Home with visitation 1 – 2 p.m. and a service at 2 p.m.. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Charles was born January 5, 1954 in Kennett, Missouri, the son of Carl Kenneth Truelove and Elizabeth Darlene (Credille) Truelove. He attended school in South Missouri before graduating from the University of Missouri. He built a long career at the Truman Veteran’s Hospital in research and pathology. He faithfully followed the Mizzou Tigers, Kansas City Chief and St. Louis Cardinals. He had a passion for motorcycles, owning both a Honda and Harley. He was proud of his 2019 red Corvette and he was a member of the Mid-Missouri Corvette Club. He was a proud Mason belonging to the Poplar Bluff Chapter Order of Demolay, master counselor; Twilight Lodge No. 114 AF & AM, Columbia, Missouri; Columbia Valley Scottish Rite Freemasonry S.J., USA 32 Degree; Moolah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of St. Louis, Missouri.
He grew up faming and gardening and found his happy place up on his farm in Harrisburg. He enjoyed working the Tribune’s daily crossword puzzle. He looked forward to attending the State Fair each year and his favorite vacation spots were Arizona and Key West. He was a student of all things related to World War II history. He loved his black lab, Bear but not as much as he loved his grandson: Hudson.
Charles is survived by his children, Lauren Truelove (Robert Sumner) of California, Missouri, Shelby Truelove (D.J. Beasley) of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Meredith Truelove (Eli Martin) of Tempe, Arizona; his partner, Phyllis Truelove; one sister, Betty (Dennis) Bess of Bloomfield, Missouri; a grandson, Hudson Beasley; his nieces and nephews, Justin Dunkmann (Julia), Jennifer Lawson (Cody, Debbie Knight, David Bess (Becky); one sister-in-law, Pam Toalson and a host of cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Diana (Rick) Dunkmann.
Memorials in Charles name may be made to Shriner’s Hospital in care of Memorial Funeral Home.
