POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Carolyn Sue Reed, 73, of Poplar Bluff, departed from this life Friday, June 7, 2019, at Saint Francis Heart Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was surrounded by family.
Mrs. Reed was born in Poplar Bluff on August 24, 1945 to the late William Gardener and Myrtle Morse Gardener.
She married Neal Hanford Reed in Pocahontas, Ark. Together they had two sons, Kenneth and Kelly, both of Poplar Bluff.
She is survived by her son Kelly Reed of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Dorothy Flagg of Pocahontas, Ark.; her “adopted” family, including “sons”, Jimmy (Sandy) Griffin, Terry (Connie) Shields and Jim (Sharon) Kester of Poplar Bluff; and five grandchildren, Derek Stamps, Matt Stamps, Warren Griffin, Brooke Griffin and Paden Thorton; as well as many other friends and family members.
Carolyn was a long time member of the Altrusa Club. She was employed by Dr. Jerry Long for over 30 years.
She loved Christmas time and spending time with her many friends and family, but her greatest joy came from spoiling her grandchildren.
Carolyn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 at Fitch Hillis Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at noon with Elder Robert Duckett officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.
