William Clyde "Bud" Epps, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center.
Bud, the son of the late Lawrence C. and Freda Brent Epps, was born May 31, 1929, in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of First Baptist Church and had retired after many years with Duckett Truck Center. During his earlier years, Bud worked as a Poplar Bluff City fireman.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the AMVETS. Bud loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandson and tinkering on his truck. He was an avid NASCAR and race car fan and enjoyed traveling with his close friends Paul Duckett and Dave Reiman. Bud loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest.
Bud married the love of his life and best friend Bertha Goad on Jan. 11, 1953, in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 1998.
Survivors include his daughter Paula Rene (Chuck) Ford; his grandson Heath Ford all of Fredericktown; a sister, Caroline Goad of Hazelwood: close friends Paul Duckett and Dave Reiman of Poplar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Rose Carr and Ruth Berry also preceded Bud in death.
Visitation was held Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel with Brother Randy Sawyer officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
