Bobby Joe Payne, 89, of Poplar Bluff, passed away July 26, 2021, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Bobby was born March 23, 1932, to Jesse and Myrtle (McGowen) Payne in the Lone Hill area. He and Doris Jean Black were married October 21, 1955, in Broseley. She preceded him in death November 4, 1999. He later married Fay Sisk on January 21, 2005, in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him death July 5, 2014.
Bobby was drafted into the United States Army September 4, 1952 and honorably discharged as Sergeant 1st Class on September 3, 1954.
Bobby was the owner and operator of Bluff City Printer for 54 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by a son, Randy (Bernice) Payne of Fairfield Township, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kelsey (Billy) Gehring of Hillard, Ohio, Zach Payne of Brooklyn, New York and Brett and Alisha Payne; two great-grandchildren, Everett and Donovan Gehring of Hillard, Ohio; and a sister, Judy Hillis of Poplar Bluff.
In addition to Doris and Fay, Bobby was preceded in death by a son, Michael Payne; two brothers, Donald Payne and Jerry Payne; and two sisters, Ruth Desich and Sharon Whitlow.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 30 from 11 a.m. until time of service at Willow Ridge Funeral and Cremation Center. Funeral service will at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Rick White officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church.
