Robert “Bob” David Kinsey passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on May 20, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones at the Missouri Veteran Home.

Bob was born in Gideon on Jan. 23, 1934. He was the son of the late Charles Richard and Fairy La Rose Kinsey.

He was married to Joyce Stuart, who preceded him in death. They have three children, David, Le Ann and Wayne, all surviving. Wayne and his wife, Lynn, have two children, Brooks Dunkin and Skyler Kinsey. Brooks and his wife, Misty, have three children, Parker, Presely and Paxton. Other survivors are siblings Carl, Johnny, Donald, Ronnie and a sister, Cherry Lee McKee.

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1953-1957 with reserve activity from 1980-1981. Bob tried many vocations throughout his lifetime but settled into farming and raising livestock in his later years and then retiring from that occupation. He enjoyed spending time with family, raising a vegetable garden, tending to flower beds around his house, as well as fishing.

He was very proud of his grandson Skyler and his aspiration to become a doctor. He provided support both financially and with encouraging words. Skyler would be the first in our family to reach this milestone.

Bob’s final days were spend at the Missouri Veteran Home in Cape Girardeau. He received excellent care, love, companionship and support up until his final day. The staff and volunteers at this facility were outstanding and a huge blessing to him and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joyce Stuart, brothers, Sam, Richard, Hal and Jerry, and his youngest sister Mary Alice Karnes. Funeral services will be conducted by Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home of Poplar Bluff. A private family viewing will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020, followed by a graveside service at Kinsey Cemetery in Harviell, at 10 a.m. Bishop Kent Miller of the Palace of Praise in Poplar Bluff will officiate. There will be a procession leaving the funeral home at 9:40 a.m. going to the cemetery.
