Bertha Evelyn Eaves, 77, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away at 3:05 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2019, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Oxley, Mo., the daughter of Charles Jr. and Pearl Geneva (Bridgeforth) Prince. She married William Joe Eaves on Aug. 5, 1958 in Mt. Vernon, Ill. Together they shared over 47 years of marriage before his passing on Sept. 28, 2005.
Evelyn was retired having been a cook for the Poplar Bluff R-1 School District. She was also a longtime member of the Bluff City Fraternal Order of Eagles #3730.
Evelyn enjoyed sewing and cooking, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Jeff (Tina) Eaves of Seattle, Wash., Karen (Wade) Rhoads of Poplar Bluff, Penny Eaves of Poplar Bluff, and Mark (Laura Eaves of Qulin, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by her siblings, Dianne (Burl) Artis of Goreville, Ill., George (Linda) Prince of Poplar Bluff, Kenneth Gerald (Carol) Prince of Austin, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Friday, June 21, at Moore Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral service will begin at noon with Bro. Gary Hancock officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Ashcraft Cemetery.
