FISK, Mo. — Berry Lee Stewart, 78, of Wappapello, Missouri, received his Angel Wings Monday, May 16, 2022 at his residence in Wappapello.
Mr. Stewart was born on June 15, 1943 to the late C.J. “Charlie” and Bethel (Johnson) Stewart in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was married for 56 years to the love of his life, Shirley (Scott) Stewart. They were married Feb. 12, 1966 at Broseley, Missouri. Berry was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Wappapello.
He was a board member of the Federal Land Bank, the Wayne County Farm Bureau Board, and was instrumental in helping with the startup of the Wappapello Volunteer Fire Department that he served as a board member and volunteer for a good number of years.
Berry’s love was for God, land for farming and hunting, and his family.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley Stewart of Wappapello; one son: Scott (Auna) Stewart of Puxico; one daughter-in-law: Janell Stewart of Wappapello; and his pride and joy, his grandchildren: Cordell (Kenzie) Stewart of Wappapello, and Dalton and Layla Stewart, all of Puxico; and a host of family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by one son: Charles “Chuck” Stewart; his parents: Charlie and Bethel Stewart; one sister: Claudette Vogel; and one brother: Donnie Stewart.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ray Placher and Bro. Art Norris officiating. Interment will follow at Wappapello Cemetery in Wappapello.
