Barbara Ann Johnson, 86, of Hayti, Missouri, and former owner and operator of Johnson’s Café in Poplar Bluff, gently completed her earthly journey and entered Heaven Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at her home with her loving family by her side.
Barb, the daughter of Judson Benny and Chapel Thelma Weever Henson was born Nov. 11, 1935, in, Kewane, Missouri. On Feb. 27, 1952, she married Leon Johnson in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Dec 31, 1990. She later married Buddy Richardson, who also preceded her in death.
Barb enjoyed her years at the café but most of all she loved visiting with everyone who came in. Her children and large family were her lifeline, and she treasured each one. Barb received a puppy Isabelle 17 years ago as a gift and she loved to tell everyone that she was the best gift ever and that they grew old together. She loved being outdoors and riding her horse.
Survivors include a son, Gary Johnson and wife, Gail Johnson, of Chesterfield, Missouri; two daughters, Lisa Robertson and her husband, Ben Robertson, of Poplar Bluff, and Patricia Crawford and her husband, Randy Crawford, of Hayti; four grandchildren, Gary Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Randall Crawford and Marcus Selvidge; great-grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Abbygail Johnson, Houston Johnson and Mackynzi Selvidge, and a host of step-great-grandchildren; her sister, Sue Swiney and husband, Bob Swiney; her sister-in-law, Rita Paris and husband. Dennis Paris, her brother-in-law, George (Frog) Johnson and wife, Gene Johnson, her sister-in-law, Billy Heitt; and a host of step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren from the Buddy Richardson family of Van Buren, Missouri.
In addition to her husbands’ Barb was proceeded in death by her father and mother, her sister Shirley Miskell, and a brother-in-law, Fred Miskell.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel with the funeral following at noon. Rev. Danny Neal, and Dr. Ronnie Webb will officiate. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
