Barbara Ann Halter, 80, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, surrounded by family at her home.
Barbara was born May 26, 1944, to Gerhard and Helen (Schallert) Lintermann in St. Louis, Missouri. She married Flavian M. Halter Sept. 25, 1965, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri before making their home in Poplar Bluff.
Barbara was a member of the Grover Cleveland High School graduating class of 1962. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Barbara retired from Sacred Heart Preschool where she was a teacher for over30 years. She volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry and The Sewing Room. She was a talented quilter and seamstress. She enjoyed baking and was famous for her award-winning Cream Cheese Coffee Cake. Barbara and Flavian loved to travel and even completed a 30-day round trip journey to Alaska in 2017.
The Halters were given the “Family of the Year Award” by the City of Poplar Bluff in 1983.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 59 years, Flavian M. Halter; five sons, Ken (Barbie), Mark (Rosetta), Steve (Debbie), Brian (Lupe), and Greg (Lisa) Halter; 13 grandchildren, Stephanie (Isaac) Ballow, Veronica (Conner) Sweet, Steven (Bekkah Shawell) Halter, Justin (Laura) Halter, Jeremiah (Santana) Halter, Kyle Halter, Caleb (Taren) Halter, Eric Rodriguez, Alejandro Rodriguez, Kason Halter, Yadira Rodriguez, Jaelynn Halter, and Piper Halter; two great-grandchildren, Brookelyn and Braden Ballow; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Helen Louise Lintermann.
Visitation will be held from 4-5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow beginning at 5 p.m. with Father Daniel Robles officiating. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to her in-home caregivers, Christina Piland and Autumn Rairdon.
