PRINCETON, Minn. -- Anna Marie Schmit, 90, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Cedargate Healthcare in Poplar Bluff.
She was born on May 8, 1927 in LaCrosse,Wis., to Louis and Florence (Fogal) Miller. Anna married Wilbur Schmit on June 26, 1948.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, painting, playing cards, crafts, knitting on her knitting machine, volunteering, and was a lifelong member of the American Legion.
Anna is survived by her loving husband of 69 year, Wilbur Schmit of Poplar Bluff; two daughters, Bonnie Novakowski and Barbara Lundeen both of Princeton, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Tara Novakowski of Tallahasse Fla., Matthew Novakowski of Kingsland Ga., RaeAnn Lundeen of Princeton, Minn., Tricia Schmit of Milica, Minn., Tina Schmit of Princeton, Minn., Josh Schmit of Princeton, Minn., Katie Schmit of Oak Grove, Minn., Scott (Crystal) Schmit Jr. of Princeton, Minn., and Joel (Nichole) Schmit of LaCresent, Wis.; 13 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Evelyn Ballard of Palistine, Texas.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Wilbur and Scott J. Schmit; one grandson, Billy Joe Schmit; one sister, Mary Parisi; three brothers, Chuck Miller, Roy Miller, Francis Miller, Louis Miller; and her parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Princeton, Minn.
Funeral Mass will be held immediately following visitation at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Princeton, Minn.
Local arrangements were handled by Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff.
Funeral services will be handled by Williams Dingman Funeral Home in Princeton, MN.
