NEELYVILLE, Mo. -- Alva "Bertie" Barber, 85, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 at her home in Poplar Bluff.
Ms. Barber was born Sept. 27, 1932 in Charter Oak, Mo. to the late Gilbert Asher and Dollie Hodges. She was a homemaker and was of the General Baptist faith.
On Dec. 28, 1951, she married Eugene D. Barber in Piggott, Ark. He proceeded her in death on March 27, 2000.
Survivors include one daughter: Charlotte Toben of Poplar Bluff; two sons: Neal Barber and wife Lydia of Poplar Bluff and Donnie Barber of Poplar Bluff; two sisters: Lillian Jones of Flint, Mich., and Dottie Carter of Naylor, Mo.; one brother: George Gilbert Asher of Fairdealing, Mo.; four grandchildren: Danielle, Rachal, Stephanie and Katherine; and six great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by one sister: Lillie Jones; and four brothers: Hubert Asher, Luther Asher, Cecil Asher and Edward Asher.
Visitation will begin at noon on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017 at Fowler and Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. A graveside funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Cochran Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Fowler officiating.
