DEXTER, Mo. -- Allen Page Christian, 89, son of the late Warner Christian and Erma Harris Christian, was born April 14, 1928, in Acorn Ridge, Mo. and died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Christian was a Sergeant in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. In 1958, he started Taylor and Christian Auto Sales. In 1978, he opened Allen Christian, Buick-Pontiac-Oldsmobile-GMC. Along with his sons, he developed it into one of the premier GMC dealerships in the area.
On Jan. 24, 1950, he was united in marriage to Thelma Riley in Piggott, Ark. Mrs. Christian survives of their home in Dexter.
Along with his wife, he is survived by three sons: Denny and wife, Traci Christian, of Dexter, Terry Christian and Melisha Hinklin of Dexter and Bruce, and wife, Amy Christian, of Dexter; one sister: Betty McDougal of Mission, Kan.; 11 grandchildren: Beth and husband, Billy Fowler, Matt and wife, Lynne Christian, Kyle and wife, Bailey Chrstian, Tory and husband. Drew Sherman, Alex Neldon, Cody Neldon, Katie Christian, Johnna Hinklin, Evi Bailey, Colby Christian and Ben Christian; and five great-grandchildren, Camden Christian, Gracyn Fowler, Grant Sherman, Kinsley Christian and Cruz Christian.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brother: Harold Christian, Carroll Christian and Charles Christian; and four sisters: Deane Kirby, Virginia Milner, Maxine Underwood and Geneva Lewis.
Visitation was held from 5 - 8 p.m., Sunday, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. uneral services were conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Greg McGhee officiating. Burial followed in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
