A Carter County woman is being held without bond following the death of a child, according to authorities.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Office was contacted Feb. 2 by medical personnel about possible child neglect, according to a press release.
Tatiana S. Gardner of Ellsinore was subsequently arrested and has been charged with abuse or neglect of a child, the sheriff’s department reported.
“The Carter County Sheriff’s Office launched an immediate investigation with the assistance of the Missouri Highway Patrol Investigation unit,” the press release states. “While investigators were conducting the investigation, it was reported the child had subsequently passed away.”
The investigation is continuing, and further information will be provided as the investigation progresses, according to officials.
