A woman who was found dead Monday morning at Ray Clinton Park has been identified.

Butler County corner Jim Akers said Monday evening the woman is Crystal Vanlue, 40, of Kennett. She was identified earlier in the day Monday, but her name was not released pending notification of next of kin.

“Normally we wouldn’t release some of (the information that) we released, but we felt that the public could help — and help us bring closure,“ Akers said.

According to Akers, Vanlue’s body was found approximately 9:20 a.m. by a mushroom hunter in an area of Ray Clinton Park not normally covered by water. He added Vanlue had been staying at a rehab facility in Poplar Bluff, which she walked away from last Wednesday, March, 30.

An autopsy is scheduled Wednesday at Farmington, to be performed by Dr. Russell Diedeker.
