A Fredericktown woman is in custody following a fatal shooting on Tuesday.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, Lesa Dawn Alcorn was arrested and subesequently charged with second-degree murder.

The case is currently still under investigation by Butler County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the report, the shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday evening. Sheriff Mark Dobbs said deputies and investigators responded to the scene and interviewed multiple parties, including Alcorn.

The residence was located in the 600 block of Butler County Road 544 in eastern Butler County. According to Butler County Coroner Jim Akers, the victim was Matthew Wilkerson of Dudley.

Akers noted that Wilkerson had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday for the purpose of evidence recovery.

“The shooting seems to have stemmed from a domestic dispute that got out of hand,” Dobbs explained. “(Alcorn) was in town, visiting her son and assisting him with child care.”

No additional information was released as of press time regarding the identity or age of any of the parties involved.

The investigation is continuing, Dobbs said.
