A vehicle fire on Highway 67 occupied Butler County firefighters for more than two hours on Tuesday morning.

A Jeep Wrangler owned by Megan Gilmore was totaled by the blaze, according to county fire reports. Fire crews responded to the scene at 7:40 a.m. Travelers passing by reported the vehicle was in the northbound lane on Highway 67 between Highways 160 and M.

“We had three trucks and five guys, and we used 3,000 gallons of water,” a county firefighter said. “We were there for two hours and 10 minutes.”

The fire report did not include Gilmore’s address.

Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Clark Parrott explained since it was not a traffic crash, they are unsure what happened.

Patrol officers “were there trying to keep people off the fire department so they can do what they do,” as well as direct traffic, Parrott said.
