OREGON COUNTY — A Van Buren police officer and his father were among five seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash at 12:55 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 63, one mile south of Brandsville.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Stephanie L. Upton, 36, of Thayer was operating a 2008 Kia Sorrento southbound when it struck a northbound 1996 Chevrolet pickup head on.

The pickup was being driven by Van Buren officer, Robert A. Dyer, 29, of Thayer.

Dyer and his 68-year-old father, Robert A. Dyer, of Thayer, were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment.

Upton was taken by ambulance to Cox South Hospital for treatment, as was her passenger, a 15-year-old female.

Another 14-year-old female in Upton’s vehicle was taken by ambulance to Ozark Medical Center at West Plains for treatment.
