Two seriously injured in highway collision

Two area men were transported to St. Louis in serious condition following an accident Sunday. The wreck occurred at about 7:30 p.m., three miles north of Neelyville on Highway 67, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

The Troop E crash report stated the collision happened when a 2020 Kia Optima driven by a 35-year-old Wappapello man crossed the center line and struck the second vehicle, a 2014 Ford Edge driven by a 25-year-old man from Poplar Bluff.

The Kia was southbound and the Edge was northbound.

Both drivers were transported by Air Evac to St. Louis University Hospital.

Butler County firefighters spent two hours at the scene and used 500 gallons of water to extinguish a resulting fire.
