Two area men were seriously injured in separate motor-vehicle crashes over the weekend.
According to the patrol, at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday Michael W. Crump, 41, of Union, Missouri, was operating a southbound 2018 Polaris Razor on County Road 410, eight miles east of Ellington, when he overturned while he was attempting to negotiate a curve.
Crump’s 71-year-old passenger, Gary Crump of Ellington, suffered serious injuries and was flown to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for treatment.
Two other passengers, Alexis L. Lentz, 17, and a 14-year-old male, both of Union, suffered minor injuries. Lentz was treated at the scene, while the other teen was to seek his own treatment.
Troopers earlier had investigated a two-vehicle crash, which occurred a 3:58 p.m. Saturday on Highway U, four miles west of Bernie.
According to the report, Daniel J. Simmons, 46, of Poplar Bluff was operating a gas-powered scooter westbound when he failed to yield to a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria being driven westbound by Bradley W. Jenkins, 30, of Dudley.
Jenkins’ car allegedly struck Simmons’ scooter.
Simmons was flown to Region One Trauma Center in Memphis, Tenn., for treatment of serious injuries.
