Two area men were seriously injured in separate crashes on Thursday in Wayne and Butler counties.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol report says David E. Bland, 76, of Wappapello was operating a 2014 GMC pickup eastbound when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The accident happened at 7:15 a.m. on Highway Z, east of County Road 515, in Wayne County.

Bland was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment.

About four hours later, at 11:38 a.m., the patrol says Kirchel Lamaster, 82, of Doniphan was operating a westbound 2008 Ford Fusion that pulled into the path of a 2007 Pontiac G6.

The accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. 67 and Highway C, in Butler County.

Kirchel was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment, as was his 68-year-old passenger, Linda J. Lamaster of Doniphan. Lamaster suffered minor injuries.

The other driver, Rebecca G. Elliott, 24, of Doniphan was not injured in the crash.
