The Twin Rivers R-X school district recently experienced a slight uptick in COVID-19 cases.
Dr. Ben Johnson, superintendent, said the district currently has seven students positive with the virus and 31 in quarantine.
Six of the positive cases are from the Qulin campus and the last is at Twin Rivers High School, he said.
Of those in quarantine, there’s 18 at the Qulin campus, three at the high school and three at the Fisk campus.
“We are monitoring the situation at Qulin, because of the sudden uptick,” Johnson told the school board during Tuesday night’s meeting. “(Administration) are encouraging maybe an increase in mask usage.”
He said the district “has plenty of masks on hand” since they were preparing for something to happen in terms of COVID cases.
Several of those in quarantine are expected to return this week, he said.
“Hopefully we can get through this little bit of a spike,” Johnson said.
Additionally, Johnson said he was notified Tuesday that the district will receive about $61,400 in more state CARES funding.
He said this is funding based on attendance.
It’s not money the district needs to spend and get reimbursed for, Johnson added.
