For those interested in games, food and trivia the Twin Rivers High School Beta Club will host a trivia night Friday as a fundraiser for the club.
The trivia teams will be between four and six members with an entry fee of $15 per person. High school Principal Misti Lovelace said they’re hoping to make it an annual event to benefit the club.
Beta Club is a national organization for 4-12 graders, focused on promoting academic achievement, character, leadership and community service. Students are expected to have a 3.5 GPA and complete a certain number of community service hours in order to be part of the club.
Students in the Beta Club are also given the option to participate in state and national conventions, where they’re able to compete in a number of academic-based competitions. The 2020 convention will be held in June in Fort Worth, Texas.
The trivia night will serve as a fundraiser for the club in order to help fund the Beta activities leading up to the national convention, Lovelace said.
Trivia night will also include a silent auction, a 50-50 raffle and $1 games. Food will be available including burgers, chili, hot dogs and desserts.
It will be held at Twin Rivers High School on Friday night at 6.
“I’ve done it in years past and it’s quite a bit of fun actually,” she said. “I’ve always had a good time.”
