Searching for a taste of culture without either breaking the bank or adding countless miles to the new car, parked ever so gently in the garage? According to the Three Rivers College Patrons of the Arts Society, the search is over. The organization recently announced its upcoming 2017-18 season, and it's going to be quality, said TRC President Dr. Wesley Payne.

"We've specifically crafted this season to have a combination of old favorites and fresh, new acts," Payne said. "There will truly be something for everyone to come and enjoy at unbeatable prices."

Performances will include the return of Russian ballet and Chinese acrobats, a Platters tribute concert, an "Evening with Mark Twain," and more.

Mary Libla, chair of the Patrons of the Arts Society, said the non-profit organization is dedicated to raising funds to bring specialty performances in music, art, drama, dance, literature, lecture, and film, to the community through TRC.

"These are the same performers you would see in the most prestigious venues across the world," Libla said. "I encourage everyone who enjoys these shows to help out by joining the Patrons of the Arts or sponsoring a show. It's that kind of community support that helps us continue bringing high-quality entertainment to Southeast Missouri."

The season kicks off with a performance by Golden Sounds of The Platters at 7 p.m. Sept. 21, followed by Martial Artists and Acrobats of Tianjin, People's Republic of China at 7 p.m. Oct. 12.

Next is "An Evening with Mark Twain" at 7 p.m. Nov. 16, SIX, an a cappella band of brothers who create an orchestra of sounds with their voices at 8 p.m. Dec. 7, Olé Music & Dance of Spain will be the first show of 2018 at 7 p.m. March 29 and the Moscow Festival Ballet will conclude the season at 7 p.m. April 30.

All shows will be performed at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on TRC's campus. Because of the support of donors to the Patrons of the Arts Society, ticket prices for each main show will be $15.

Season tickets covering all six main shows are $75. Season tickets are available by calling the Patrons of the Arts Society at 573-840-9688 or the Financial Services office at 573-840-9670.

"We at Three Rivers are immensely appreciative of the support of the Patrons of the Arts Society," Payne said. "Donors to the Patrons allow us to bring in national and international touring troupes at an unbelievable price for performances of this quality. You would pay two, three, four or more times as much to see these performers in St. Louis or Memphis."

Tickets for individual shows are available online at trcc.edu/tinnin and will remain so throughout the season. For two weeks prior to each show, tickets will be sold at the Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce and the TRC Student Accounts Office. Tickets will be sold at the door as available.
