Poplar Buff Historic Depot Restoration Corporation recently elected officers and is looking for additional volunteers.
New depot officers are Stephanie Knoppe, president; Lanny Corcimiglia, vice president; Nathan Newman, treasurer; and Marge Van Pragg, secretary.
New board members are Ben Robinson and Sueann Cemhil-Warn.
The group meets at 5:15 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the depot, 400 S. Main St.
“We are looking for people to join the board or people that have a little bit of time to help with fundraising events,” said Knoppe.
Poplar Bluff has been a railroad town since 1878 and the railroad is still an important part of the economy both locally and in surrounding communities.
The 1910, Historic Iron Mountain Depot Building was donated to the not-for-profit committee by Union Pacific in 2003 and is managed by the all-volunteer group. Over $1 million has been spent since 2003 on the roof, staircase, fence and interior renovations. Membership of the depot committee is open to anyone interested in becoming involved in the restoration of the depot.
For more information or details come to the next meeting, Knoppe said, or email her at stephanie@ironmountiandepot.com.
