The Take Off Pounds Sensibly TOPS Mo. 347 group gathers at 5:30 p.m. each Thursday at the Palace of Praise Church, 1400 Herschel Bess Blvd. The meetings begin with weigh-ins, pledge to the flag as well as the TOPS pledge and song.
The group has recognized several successes at recent meetings, and offered encouragement, as well as suggestions and tips to all of its members, according to club reports.
Those planning to attend may go to the church’s front entrance, turn left and go to the side door that says exit only. Entrance is available at both doors. The TOPS room is located on the right. On May 26, best loser was Linda Nelson. Kathy Wood was the runner up. Best loser for May 12 was Nicole Loyd and TOPS runner up was Nelson. The best loser for May 5 was Loyd with Eathel Reece as TOPS runner up.
During the month of April, the best loser April 7 was Tess Butler with Marsha Bostic as the runner up. On April 28, Butler was the best loser with Loyd as tops runner up.
During the month of March, the best loser March 3 was Nelson with no runners-up. Best loser at the March 17 meeting was Connie Sanders with Butler runner up. Best loser March 24 was Sanders with Wood being runner up. March 31, best loser was Butler with Bostic as the runner up.
The group sang the best loser song to them at each meeting. Secretary reports were also approved at each meeting.
May drawings
On May 5, Reece took the gypsy bag brought by Sanders. Wood’s name was drawn from the HaHa Box. She had an absence. Loyd received the mystery prize for week one. Suggestion for the week was Keep a Food Chart.
Nelson gave the program “Every Pound Counts.” The program ended with the TOPS closing pledge and prayer. Quote for the week was an Irish Toast: “There are gold ships, and wood ships, ships that sail the seas. But the best ships are friendships and may they always be!”
On May 12, Nelson took the Gypsy bag brought by Reece. Butler’s name was drawn from HaHa Box. She had a loss. Loyd held the mystery prize on week two. Keeping a food chart was the suggestion for the week.
Vick gave the program Chapter Royalty. April royalty was Butler, who was crowned and robed. She received a certificate, three months dues and a rose. Loyd was the 10-pound loser. She received a bracelet. Quote for the week was The beautiful spring came and when nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also by Harriet Ann Jacobs.
The May 19 meeting had no best loser or runner up. Woods took the Gypsy Bag brought Nelson. Butler’s name was drawn from the HaHa Box. She had a gain. No one received the mystery prize. Suggestion for the week was No sweets. Nelson read the secretary’s report. Wood gave the program “Exercise to manage your blood sugar,” which closed with the pledge and prayer. The quote was God is within her heart. She will not fall — Psalms 46:5.
On May 26, Vick took the Gypsy Bag brought by Wood. Reece’s name was drawn from the HaHa Box. Nelson holds the mystery prize for week one. Suggestion for the week was no sodas.
Vick gave the program “Names in the Weight Loss,” which ended with the pledge and prayer.

For the April 7 meeting, Bostic took the gypsy bag brought back by Nelson. Bostic’s name was drawn from the HaHa Box and she had a loss. Butler was the mystery prize holder on week three. Suggestion for the week was no sweets.
Nelson also gave the program “Watch Your Steps” which ended with closing pledge and prayer.
The quote for the week was Live, love, laugh its good for your system. Be happy “smile.”
On April 28, Connie Sanders took the gypsy bag brought by Bostic. Loyd’s name was drawn from the HaHa Box and she had loss. Butler had the mystery prize for week four. Suggestion for the week was Call a TOPS. Helen Vick gave the program “Computer Vision Syndrome.” The program ended with the closing pledge and prayer.

Eathel Reece was the winner of the game “TOPS to the Rescue” and she received a gift. Mystery Prize winner was Butler for four weeks of losses. She received a gift.

On March 31, Reece took the gypsy bag brought by Butler. Sanders name was drawn from the Ha HA Box but she was not there so the mystery prize was in the hands of Butler for week one. Suggestion for the week was no sweets.
