Tickets remain for the Poplar Bluff Lions Club's second annual fundraising concert to be held Saturday at the Rodgers Theatre.

This year's "Roarin' at the Rodgers" will feature Matt Stell, Alex Riffle and the Stiff Riffs and Brothers Walker.

"Matt Stell does have a following in Southeast Missouri," said Lions Club member Steve Walsh.

A singer/songwriter, Stell has a "bluesy/country vibe," said Lions Club member Dennis Keeling, who has seen Stell perform several times.

With the concert less than a week away, Walsh said, ticket sales are brisk.

General admission tickets are $15 and VIP tickets, which include preferred seating, food and drinks, are $30, Keeling said.

"For $30, you get dinner, drinks and a great show ... at least three hours of entertainment," said Walsh.

A variety of food and beverages will be available in the VIP room, Walsh and Keeling said.

This year's concert, according to Walsh, is bigger than the inaugural one.

"Last year was just a start," Walsh said. "We're expecting a good enthusiastic crowd."

For the price, Walsh described the event as a bargain.

"Yeah, it is. You get dinner, drinks and entertainment for $30 per person, and you don't have to leave a tip," said Keeling, who indicated club members are excited about the concert.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., with performances to begin at 7 p.m.

A silent auction, Keeling said, will be set up in the lobby.

Furniture pieces from Hefner Furniture and Appliance, a guitar from Hays Music and 100 gallons of fuel from Tracy Edington's Money Mizer are just a few of the silent auction items, Walsh said.

"This is one of our two major fundraisers for the year," Keeling explained. "In typical year, we provide over 100 to 120 pairs of eyeglasses" to children in need.

The Lions Club, Walsh said, also covers the costs for those in need of eye-related surgery at Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Services in Memphis, Tenn., as well as helps fund the Leader Dogs for the Blind program, which provides seeing-eye dogs for visually impaired patients.

Keeling said the club also contributes to other "local worthy causes, especially school related" ones.

Tickets may be purchased in advance from any Lions Club member, at Moore Funeral Home, the Walsh-Walsh Law Firm and Hays Music or online at rodgerstheatre.org.

Any remaining tickets, Keeling said, will be available at the door.
