Three Rivers College’s Corey Reynolds was recently honored with FCC Behavioral Health’s Community Collaborative Program of the Year award.
“I felt very humbled and very honored,” said Reynolds, Coordinator of the Behavioral Health Support Program at Three Rivers. “It’s a reminder that all of the hard work and efforts that we’ve put forward, that they haven’t been in vain. We are building strong community partnerships and new partnerships, and we’ll continue cultivating those relationships. We’ll continue to move forward to not only offer mental health education and prevention here on this campus, but throughout our community.”
The Behavioral Health Support degree program is an accelerated 18-month curriculum that provides graduates a pathway to an entry-level position as a support professional in addiction, disabilities, education, mental health and psychiatric care. Nine Three Rivers students are expected to graduate from the program in May.
“The program provides a pathway to employment for our students and provides our community with desperately needed behavioral health support personnel, who serve with pride and dedication,” Three Riverspresident Wesley Payne said.
Since being hired by Three Rivers in July 2020, Reynolds has coordinated with FCC Behavioral Health on multiple outreach events, including the Out of the Darkness walk during suicide prevention month, International Overdose Awareness Day and other mental health awareness days.
“Mr. Reynolds has worked diligently to continue growing the BHS program, improving the curriculum, and building partnerships with local facilities such as the Family Counseling Center,” said Dr. Leslie Gragg, Three Rivers Department Chair for science, math, social sciences, and HPER (health, physical education and recreation). “Mr. Reynolds is a great example of someone who goes above and beyond to support our students and help them succeed. His leadership and willingness to collaborate have helped TRC and the community cultivate enhanced training and new job opportunities for students to enter the workforce quickly.”
