The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports three people were killed in Sunday motor-vehicle crashes on Southeast Missouri roadways.

A 60-year-old Poplar Bluff man died in a two-vehicle crash, which occurred at 5:27 p.m. on U.S. 60, four miles east of Poplar Bluff.

The patrol reports William T. Chambers was operating a 2010 Ford Fusion eastbound when he pulled into the path of a 2012 Kenworth tractor-trailer being driven by James B. Jordan, 36, of Pineville, Louisiana.

After Chambers’ car allegedly was struck, it then travelled off the left side of the road and overturned.

Chambers was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:55 p.m. by Butler County Deputy Coroner Brien Fugate.

Chamber is the 39th fatality in Troop E this year.

Earlier in the day, a 58-year-old Naylor woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 5:44 a.m. on U.S. 60, one mile east of U.S. 61, in New Madrid County.

The patrol reports Karen G. Steele was operating a 2007 Toyota Highlander westbound when it struck the rear of a 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer being driven westbound by Michael Toimil, 39, of Miami, Florida.

Steele was pronounced dead at 6:38 a.m. at the scene by New Madrid County Coroner George Delisle.

Steele is the 37th fatality in Troop E this year.

The patrol also investigated another fatality crash, which occurred at 9:06 a.m. on Highway O, one mile east of Interstate 55, in Pemiscot County.

The patrol reports Corey L. Vandyke, 42, of Jackson, Tennessee, was operating a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu westbound when it ran off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.

Vandyke was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:20 a.m. by Pemiscot County Coroner Jim Brimhall. He was the 38th fatality in Troop E this year.
