Saturday is set to be full of cool crisp air, pots of warm chili and Dream Construction's Fall Festival.

The Dream Construction Organization will be holding a Fall Festival beginning at 2 p.m. at Wheatley School in Poplar Bluff in support of police awareness. Tickets for the Fall Festival are $5.

A Poplar Bluff police officer is scheduled to host a question and answer session beginning at 3 p.m. and visit with attendees.

"We want to bridge the gap between officers and our children and educate them on how to approach police officers," Jason Matlock said. "We want to open the lines of communication and let the officers know they have the support of the community."

Other events scheduled during the family friendly day include a chili supper, games, Trunk-or-Treat and a hayride.

"The chili supper will set the tone," Shantelle Combs said of the fall-themed event.

Two local artists, Latez Kellum and Yung Zeus, are also scheduled to perform during the Fall Festival.

The goal of the event, the Dream Construction team said, is to let police officers know the support of the community is there and want to create an open relationship.

The Dream Construction Organization began as a dream for individuals wanting to motivate and empower youth in the community.

Monthly planning meetings are held and the Dream Construction Organization invites any community member interested in becoming involved.

The next meeting is planned for Nov. 18 and will include a Thanksgiving community dinner. The location has not been determined as of yet.

"We are always trying to support the community and kids through fundraisers," Combs said. "We are bringing the community together and we are seeing it."

Tickets may be purchased at the Fall Festival on Saturday or may be purchased ahead of time by contacting Shantelle Combs at 573-712-3447 or Jason Matlock at 573-481-5609.
