Stoddard County Emergency Management Director Andrew Bohnert told the Stoddard County Commission that the sudden storm on Friday resulted in damage to FM Bank, First Baptist Church, Heartland Furniture Busy B Lumber. Additionally more than 3,500 customers in the Dexter area lost power according to the Ameren Missouri website.
Bohnert said The National Weather Service did not visit the area to assess the damage and determine the nature of the event. Bohnert said it is speculated that a micro burst hit the Dexter area.
Commissioner Steve Jordan said the AED for the Justice Center will cost $16,80.72. Each trauma bag is $42.99 but Stoddard County EMS will stock this at no charge and a 100 count package bio hazard bag package $5.79. The commission approved the purchase of the equipment for both the Justice Center and the Government Building.
The commission decided against the purchase of a wheel chair for either building due to liability issues.
The commission appointed Erin Brown to finish John Pruitt’s term on the Stoddard County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) Board.
The commission approved the ACH Direct Deposit program for the county employees. The commission has been working with Stoddard County Collector Josh Speakman in the past several weeks to work out the details of the program.
Stoddard County EMA Director Andrew Bohnert turned in a letter of resignation to the commission which was accepted. Bohnert’s last day will be September 18. The commission approved the advertisement for the Stoddard County EMA Director position.
There will be no commissioners meeting on September 5 due to the Labor Day holiday.
